Christmas in Finland
In the first Sunday before the birth of Jesus, the churches from Finland are full and there are barely room for standing up. In the front of all cathedrals they have a Christmas tree 30-40 feet adorned with all ornaments possible. The national anthem is never sing in the churches from Finland.
In December 24, exactly 12 o'clock on the balcony of city hall, a representative of City proclaim "Peace for Christmas". This means that from the proclamation of peace those who disturb peace will suffer severe penalties. This tradition has existed for almost 600 years and it is applied for the whole country.
On the afternoon they light candles in cemeteries in the memory of all beloved that aren't with they in that day.
Evening comes with many gifts for the families with children from Santa Claus.
Among the food served at Christmas are: ham or turkey, potatoes, carrot, liver , rice that contains a single almond. The person who eats the almond will be married next year.
In December 25 it serves a kind of fish, a special tradition for Christians, which have a long and complicated process for preparation.
On the morning of 25 December there are religious services in all Churches from Finland.
